About

The LNDS Data Catalogue is a metadata catalogue which presents an overview of data held in the public sector in Luxembourg. The catalogue helps you navigate Luxembourg's complex data landscape and discover datasets through structured metadata. The catalogue is developed and managed by Luxembourg National Data Service (LNDS), located in Belval, Luxembourg. As guardians of the LNDS Data Catalogue, our team at LNDS is dedicated to maintaining utmost data quality and reliability, working to update and refine the catalogue, to ensure it serves as an invaluable resource.

Our Mission

The LNDS Data Catalogue serves as a focused gateway to sensitive, restricted public sector data in Luxembourg. Our commitment lies in facilitating seamless access to this specialised array of datasets for various stakeholders. The catalogue is specifically tailored to guide users through the intricate and sensitive data landscape of Luxembourg.

Our Commitment

We are dedicated to fostering a culture of data transparency, focusing specifically on sensitive and restricted data. We continually aim to enhance the catalogue's functionality and user experience, inviting you to explore the array of sensitive and restricted datasets held in the public sector in Luxembourg. Please note: While the LNDS Data Catalogue provides a comprehensive overview of the datasets, it is important to note that the actual sensitive data is not stored within the catalogue. To access individual datasets you can submit a formal access request.

Our Metadata Model: DCAT-AP 3

The core of LNDS Data Catalogue is our sophisticated metadata model, the Data Catalog Vocabulary Application Profile 3 (DCAT-AP 3). This model is diligently developed to ensure that the metadata is structured, standardised, and readily interpretable. Ideal for researchers, policy makers, or data enthusiasts, our metadata model empowers you to pinpoint necessary information with precision and ease.

Open Metadata - Restricted Data

The LNDS Data Catalogue focuses on cataloguing metadata for restricted data. While the metadata is openly accessible and provides general information about various datasets, the actual data requires special access due to its sensitive nature. This approach ensures a balance of transparency and strict adherence to data protection and privacy standards.

How to Access Restricted Data

Accessing restricted data involves a process called Request Data Access. Users must submit a formal request to the data controllers via LNDS to initiate this process. This ensures that sensitive information is responsibly managed and accessed only by authorised individuals. For more details, contact LNDS.

How to Contribute to the Catalogue

If you'd like to register a sensitive or restricted dataset held by your organisation in the LNDS Data Catalogue, please get in touch. We would love to hear from you! We will guide you through the process of submitting the metadata for the listing. You will not need to provide any actual data unless a data access request is made and approved for the catalogue entry.
